Beach Blast Reflections

What a great week at COC Metro! We had a couple hundred kids show up for four nights of getting their hula on and having some fun.  We had a slew of flip-flop wearing volunteers loving and teaching those kids about Jesus.  I’m always amazed at how God works in an event like this. He shows up through the volunteers, through the songs, the skits, the leadership of the church and the kids themselves.  He’s omnipresent in all things and it shows especially when the goal is to reveal Him as the greatest thing ever. He’s easy to find when you just open your eyes to the goodness around you.

The lessons we learned were timely and powerful and they all pointed to the goodness of God:

Night 1) I Will Give Second Chances to Others- God gave us all a second chance to be in his family through his Son Jesus.

Night 2) I Will Encourage Others The Gospel is the most encouraging news ever!!!

Night 3) I Will Have a Good Attitude No Matter WhatPhilippians 2:5 says our attitudes should be the same as Jesus. It doesn’t get any better than Jesus’ attitude folks!

Night 4) I Will Put Others FirstJesus put everyone of us first when he hung on that cross.  The most selfless act ever!

I thank God everyday for the blessing of being in His service! I love to be a part of a body of people who will love and serve each other like I saw this week at Beach Blast.  I witnessed love pouring out of a group of men and women both young and old who desired nothing more than to see a bunch of children (they may or may not know) have a ton of fun and learn about Jesus at the same time.  I’ll never grow tired of seeing that!

The week was exciting and fun and yes…a bit draining but that’s ok, I think every one who attended left with a little more love for Jesus and for the church.  That makes it worth it for me!

I picture Heaven as a place where we all act like children, loving everything, loving everybody and where everyday is the best day ever.  I believe God allows us to see a little bit of heaven when we look into the eyes of a joy-filled child.  This week I believe I got to see about 200 little bits of heaven and man was it beautiful!

Thank you Lord for your goodness!
