It’s that time of the year again. It’s “Tired Season”! In Fall you have “Back to School Season” or “Football Season” in winter you get “The Holiday Season: and in Spring you get “Spring Break Season” but in Children’s ministry you have different seasons. We label them differently and they mean different things but make no mistake they are seasons. As a quick guide to understanding what I’m taking about here’s a brief season overview for Children’s Ministry:
“Go Season” – Occurs in the Fall = Programing calendar starts and basically Children’s Ministry kicks in to high gear. Imagine getting out of bed and immediately start sprinting and then keep up that pace until you go to bed at night. That’s “Go Season”.
“Jesus is the Reason Season” – Occurs in the Winter = Gotta get Christmas children’s services & volunteers together and prepare special curriculum. Add in your own family’s event schedule and you would think it’s Crazy Season – see below!
“Workout Season” Occurs in the Spring = Getting ready for the end of school, Summer & Fall – lots and lots of preparation to do. It’s the P90x training time for Children’s Ministry.
“Crazy Season” Occurs in the Summer = Time for children’s ministry to get extra super busy (VBS & Camps). It’s like combining all of the above seasons into 8 weeks – It’s plumb crazy!!!
Now that were done with “Crazy Season” and we’re about to start “Go Season” – Amy and I are in “Tired Season”. It’s really just a mini-season since we don’t have much time to be tired. About a week to be exact. Then we have to get over being tired and get ready to “Go” again. Hey it’s Children’s Ministry!
Please don’t get me wrong it’s not like there aren’t any breaks in children’s ministry there just isn’t any “Rest or Down Season”. I like to say that we get “rest or down moments”. Amy and I need one of those “down moments” right about now. We are just pooped! We’ll get through this “Tired Season”…scratch that…”Tired Moment” and we’ll get going again. We’ve got work to do and lives to see changed by God’s unbelievable, unfathomable, unrelenting and unquenchable love for us.
I did want to add this one thing – when Amy and I eventually build out our teams we won’t be as tired as we are now. With team work comes team responsibility and the ability to share the above seasons with more people. We currently have a small but dedicated team that share the workload with us and guess what? Those people are tired too. Our goal this year is to pray for and build more teams. If you’re not already on our team – you should pray to see if God has a spot for you with CCity Kids!<- shameless plug!!
Now it’s time for me to go — I’m tired! I don’t want to blog anymore this week. It’s a “Stop Blogging for a Week Season”…I mean…Moment!
Blessings to you!
