What does it truly take to be a Children’s Pastor or Minister? What is “it” that is required to be called into that type of ministry. An early childhood education degree? Maybe management experience in running a day care facility? Perhaps a master’s degree in Child Psychology? Good, Great, Awesome…but NO! Those would extremely helpful and maybe contribute to some good wall decoration in some cases but it’s not “it”.
Ok, so by now you’re bound to be sitting on the edge of your seat wondering what “it” is. Drum Roll Please! (insert fanfare here) “It” is Crazy! You have to be CRAZY! Plumb out of your mind Crazy! No, not the “crazy” that scares people and makes them avoid you at church and grocery stores. No, the “crazy” that gives you the reputation of doing just about anything short of sin to share the life changing message of Christ to every child you see. The kind of “crazy” that would have you spend hours in front of an audience of children sharing your heart and soul while they pick their nose. Nice!
Crazy isn’t so much a condition as it an attitude! It’s the result of the passion that God has laid on your heart and called you to do. If you’re in ministry you need to be Crazy and if you’re not then find another area in the ministry that supports “crazy people”. Crazy people need support!
So remember, the next time you see a children’s pastor or minister ask them if they are “Crazy”. If they respond that they are not then pray for them. They need to be! If they are then pray for them too. FYI – Preschool Ministers are the craziest people ever! Just ask them. God bless the crazy the people!
